Our Mission and Values

Torbay Ladies Lounge is a registered charity founded on Christian vision and driven by Christian values, focused on aiding women affected by domestic and sexual abuse. We create an environment where women can feel safe, supported, and understood. Our mission is to uplift and empower each woman who walks through our doors and assist them in their journeys to recovery.

A Safe Space for Healing and Growth

Our welcoming environment fosters an atmosphere where women can express themselves creatively while cultivating significant relationships. Through artistic endeavours, craft activities, and meaningful dialogue, all women are invited to seek solace, support, and empowerment within our community.

At Torbay Ladies Lounge, we are committed to uplifting every woman, ensuring that each individual understands that she is not alone in her journey.

We meet as a group twice a week—on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons—providing an opportunity for women to share their experiences if they wish, either privately with one of our trained volunteers or with the wider group, thereby encouraging mutual support. The craft activities we facilitate allow participants to relax, enhance their creativity, or divert their minds from any challenges they may be facing.

Our local partners

Part of a caring community

We collaborate closely with various organisations in Torbay and beyond, working to break the cycle of domestic abuse. We are signed up to the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Community forum strategy on tackling domestic abuse and sexual violence in Torbay. A number of our team also belong to the Domestic Abuse Champions network supported by the Reduce The Risk Charity. We maintain frequent communication with the Torbay Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS) and other statutory agencies, recognising that all facets of a woman's life are affected by such circumstances. Domestic abuse has significant repercussions on mental health, financial stability, housing, and childcare, and individuals may also require assistance with legal matters.

We get referrals from the NHS111 national helpline, Refuge National Domestic Abuse Helpline as well as local agencies like What's Your Problem

Our Craft Activities

We are pleased to introduce a new optional craft activity during each session. Engaging in craft activities promotes dialogue, assists women in diverting their thoughts from challenging circumstances, and enhances their self-confidence.

Wonderful Crafters and Fundraisers

After months of hard work, we proudly organised a fundraiser in June to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. The event was a resounding success, allowing us to raise over £5,000, which will significantly enhance our initiatives and support for the community. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to making this milestone possible and for their continued support of our non-profit efforts in Torbay.

Thank you Tim and Max

We're so proud of Tim and his son Max, who have successfully completed the Windsor Inflatable Obstacle Course Race - and not only smashed their way through the course but also smashed their fundraising goal!

Together they raised 150% of their target for Torbay Ladies Lounge, with every penny helping women in our community who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence.
